Prom Prep Timeline

Prom Prep Timeline Dress & Party

As prom approaches, making a list of the items to take care of before prom can become slightly overwhelming. Of course, you’ll need a prom dress and prom accessories, but there’s also a long list of other items to consider prior to the big day. Whether you’ve been planning for months or just getting started, our Dress & Party prom planning timeline will help you through the 2018 prom season.

It’s definitely not uncommon to find your dress three or four months prior to prom. However, if you haven’t found the dream dress from this year’s prom dress styles yet, now is the time to say yes to the dress! Also, plan out your prom experience by completing the following items:

1-2 Months Out

  • Establish a workout regimen 3-4x a week
  • Schedule your beauty appointments (hair, makeup, nails, spa, etc.)
  • If needed, reach out to a local tailor for dress alterations
  • Buy your prom accessories (shoes, jewelry, clutch, etc.)
  • Make prom plans with a date or with a group of friends
  • Purchase your prom ticket(s) and order a boutonniere/corsage

2 Weeks Out

  • Swap out your regular toothpaste with whitening toothpaste for a bright smile
  • Take care of your skin to create a radiant prom-day glow
  • Make plans with your prom group for before and after prom
  • Organize a de-stressing day with friends (head to a movie, have an at-home beauty day, go out to a relaxing dinner or any other fun group activities)

1 Week Out

  • Break in your prom shoes
  • Verify you have the proper undergarments (and make sure they’re comfortable too)
  • Find beauty inspiration (search Pinterest prom hairstyles, makeup and nails)
  • Have any waxing done (eyebrows, legs and underarms)

2 Days Out

  • Head to the spa or give yourself an at-home facial
  • Get a spray tan or give yourself one from home
  • Steam your dress if you notice any wrinkles
  • Gather what prom “extras” you’ll be bringing (lip gloss, flossers, gum, tickets, money, compact mirror, perfume, etc.)

1 Day Out

  • Re-confirm your pre-prom plans (where you’re getting ready and taking photos at, transportation, dinner reservations, etc.)
  • Re-verify your after prom plans
  • Relax with a salon or at-home manicure and/or pedicure
  • Drink plenty of water to hydrate yourself
  • Energize with a good night’s sleep
